Biography
What has been surprising to you about your host community?
The winters in the United Kingdom are much colder than ones I experienced in New Orleans, but I truly could not be having a greater time during my grant period.
How are you living out the Fulbright mission of creating mutual understanding?
In line with Fulbright’s mission of promoting civic engagement and cultivating mutual understanding, my fondest memories to date have come while interacting with local members of the Reading community and bringing positive advocacy to the student body as the elected Course Representative for the Nutrition Department and Postgraduate Student Representative for UoR’s Student Union. In the coming months, as part of my grant, I look forward to creating a global health initiative surrounding nutrition and food security to be shared between the U.S. and U.K.
What one piece of advice would you give to applicants?
My advice to all applicants is to truly research and explain in one’s application their motivations and interests for a particular host country and degree program to allow the passion of one’s writing to shine through.
