Below are resources provided by the foundations that sponsor some of the prestigious scholarships that Tulane students pursue most frequently. It is important to fully review the website of every fellowship that interests you. Explore all tabs, drop down menus and FAQs you find. The awarding foundations provide troves of tips and advice on their websites with one goal solidly in mind: they want to help you to be a competitive applicant! It is worth your time to see what they recommend about how to do that best.

  • Fulbright
    • While you should start your exploration on the home page, be sure to check out the Fulbright webinars for highly specialized info sessions on various award types and components of the applications for each award type, interviews, panel discussions with past recipients, and more. The webinars are a goldmine of guidance and good advice, and not to be missed if you are serious about your application! Another good Fulbright resource is the Award Search page. Here you can browse an alphabetical list of participating countries and learn what kind of Fulbright grants are available for you there: Open Study, Research, English Teaching Assistantships. Each country is presented on a tile that provides:
      • Grant type
      • Basic qualifications (bachelors, master, doctoral)
      • Basic level of engagement (e.g., University/Post-Secondary Institution for Open Study Research OR Elementary school, High school, etc., for English Teaching Assistantships)
      • Duration and level of dependent (spousal) support Clicking on the tile will take you to the country-specific webpage for more info.
  • Boren Scholarships and Fellowships
    • The webinars and videos for the Boren awards will provide you with an introduction to, and additional info about, these language/US Gov service funding opportunities, and their application components.
  • Critical Language Scholarship
  • Truman Scholarship
    • The Before Applying section of the Truman Website answers most common/important questions about this award for future public servants and provides great tips for moving smoothly through the application process.
  • Goldwater Scholarship
    • While you review the website of this award for promising future STEM researchers, be sure to browse the webinars archive for recent interviews and panel discussions with Goldwater recipients.
  • Beinecke Scholarship
    • Beinecke is there to support you to make bold choices by pursuing graduate courses of study and career opportunities in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Check out the scholar profiles for insight and a lot of good tips for your application.
  • Udall Scholarship
    • For sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue careers in the environment, Native American health or tribal public policy. Along with academic achievement, strong and sustained service and leadership must be demonstrated by successful applicants. The Udall website provides step-by-step advise, including links to the Udall papers at the University of Arizona.
